Comics, love and life

From Object Permanence To Projected Impermanence.

THE BACKSTORY: All of our pets have died in the last 6 months, and each time one passed, our child seemed to register it more.  The day before I took Bruce (our last guinea pig, brother to Fabio, who passed before him) to be put to sleep, we told them to say goodbye and completely without input from the adults, they said, “I love you, Bruce!” It’s hard to know how much it registered with our little one, but Bruce’s passing seems to have hit a certain chord with them where the notion of mortality is starting to set in.  Unfortunately, risk assessment and certain notions of self preservation don’t seem to quite correlate with this stage of development, atleast not at the moment.
